A Balaton változatos arcáról, városainak sokszínűségéről, halászatának látványos sajátosságairól számos filmfelvétel készült az elmúlt száz esztendő alatt. Ezekből szép gyűjteményt őriz a Filmarchívum, és az alkotások műfaja legalább annyira változatos, mint maga a téma. Ebben az összeállításban az ötvenes évek balatoni hangulatát idézzük fel, amikor valóban az egész társadalom számára vált közkinccsé a magyar tenger. A csak ritkán látható propagandafilmekről érdekes képet kapunk a magyar tömegüdültetés fejlődéséről is, valamint az ismerős helyszínek és régi strandeszközök bizonyára sokakban felejthetetlen emlékeket ébresztenek majd.

Over the past 100 years, many films have been made of Lake Balaton’s multifaceted image, the diversity of its towns and the spectacular characteristics of its fisheries. The Film Archive has a fine collection of these works, and the genres represented are at least as diverse as the topic itself. In this compilation, we track the history of the lake from the 1920s to the collapse of socialism, in the process obtaining a kaleidoscope picture of the development of Hungarian mass resort tourism. Familiar spots and old beach equipment seen in these rarely screened pictures are sure to awaken memories in many, so fans of retro films are recommended to view the Balaton movies in full.
