Bővebben a filmről

A Kecskemétfilm Stúdiót 1971-ben a Pannónia Filmstúdió első vidéki leányvállalataként alapították, vezetője a kezdetektől Mikulás Ferenc producer. A stúdió 1991-ben önállósodott, majd 1993-ban magánkézbe került. (A magyar filmszakmában egyedülálló módon a munkatársak megvásárolták a munkahelyük állami vagyonrészét.) Legismertebb produkciójuk a Jankovics Marcell vezetésével elindított, majd Horváth Mária és Nagy Lajos bábáskodása mellett befejezett százrészes Magyar népmesék című mesesorozat. A televíziós sorozatok (pl. Vízipók-csodapók, Mesék Mátyás királyról, Leo és Fred) és a külföldi bérmunkák (pl. A Kells titka, A vörös teknős) mellett a stúdió profiljához tartoznak a formanyelvi határokat felbontó kísérleti rövidfilmek. Míg Szilágyi Varga Zoltán grafikailag kimunkált, erős szimbolikájú rövidfilmjeivel tűnik ki, addig Ulrich Gábor képzőművészeti indíttatású digitális rajzfilmjeiből egy danse macabre-szerű, groteszk univerzum bontakozik ki.

Kecskemétfilm Studio was founded in 1971 as the first regional affiliate of Pannónia Film Studio, headed up from the very beginning by producer Ferenc Mikulás. In 1991 the studio became an independent entity and in 1993 it moved into private ownership. (Uniquely in the Hungarian film sector, staff bought out the state’s equity stake in their workplace.) Their best-know production is the 100-part Magyar népmesék (Hungarian Folk Tales) series launched under the direction of Marcell Jankovics and later curated by Mária Horváth and Lajos Nagy. As well as TV series, for example, Vízipók-csodapók (Water Spider-Wonder Spider), Mesék Mátyás királyról (Tales of King Matthias), Leo és Fred (Leo and Fred) and commissions from foreign studios (for example, The Secret of Kells, The Red Turtle), the studio’s profile also includes experimental shorts that transgress idiomatic boundaries. Whereas Zoltán Szilágyi Varga shines with his graphically finely worked short films evidencing robust symbolism, Gábor Ulrich develops a grotesque, danse macabre-like universe in his fine art-sourced digital animations.
